Women’s Voices of Glynn County was born from a march.
In January 2017, a group of local women participated in Women’s Marches. Some traveled to Washington, D.C.; others marched in communities across Georgia. They returned home energized, inspired, and determined to turn that momentum into meaningful action. Within weeks, six of them gathered around a table to answer one simple question: What comes next?
For their first meeting, they invited neighbors, friends, and members of the community. Nearly 50 people came. That overwhelming response made one thing clear: there was a real need for an organization where local women could come together to learn, engage, and make a difference.

From those early conversations emerged five priorities that reflected the concerns of women in Glynn County: protecting voting rights, supporting women's health, safeguarding the environment, strengthening education, and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community. Women's Voices of Glynn County was born, growing from six founding members to more than 650—and expanding its impact every step of the way.
Today, Women's Voices of Glynn County is a nonpartisan organization that meets monthly and takes meaningful action. Rather than reinventing the wheel, we partner with the organizations already making a difference in our community, adding our voices, our volunteers, and our energy to help amplify their work and create lasting change.

VOTER EDUCATION
Getting Out the Vote!
An informed voter is an empowered voter. WVGC is committed to making sure every resident of Glynn County has the information and access they need to participate in our democracy.
We've shared voter education, registration assistance, and absentee voting information across the community — at the College of Coastal Georgia, Cultural Fairs, Blood Drives, Porch Fest, First Fridays, neighborhood gatherings, and more. As voters, we have organized card writing events to communicate with our elected officials.
We don’t ask, and we don’t advocate, we motivate people to vote.

EDUCATION & YOUTH
Supporting Glynn County Kids
Every child should be able to walk into school ready to learn — not worrying about whether they have what they need.
WVGC members pack backpacks, donate new shoes and socks, and provide school supplies each year for students who need them. We've also partnered with the Head Start preschool program to support our youngest learners. Coastal Soccer youth received funds to equip their players.
We identified the need. We showed up. And we'll keep showing up every school year.

HOUSING & FOOD SECURITY
Providing Assistance to a Community in Need
Everyone deserves a safe place to sleep and enough food to eat. In Glynn County, too many of our neighbors go without both.
On the second Saturday of every month, WVGC volunteers help feed more than 300 people at Manna House. We've donated cookware and supplies to Veteran's Village. We've volunteered alongside Habitat for Humanity to help build homes for families in need.
We've also connected with the Women's Independence Network (W.I.N.) and other community outreach programs to make sure help reaches people wherever they are.

ENVIRONMENT
Showing Up at Community Events
WVGC recognizes that a community park is important for healthy outdoor plan and socializing. That’s why, partnering with Keep Golden Isles Beautiful, we adopted Urbana Park. But we didn't just pick up trash four times a year. We planted flowers and trees. We got to know the neighborhood's kids and families. We had ice cream together. The community can be proud of Urbana Park.
A Freedom Quilt was created by a WVGC member and donated to Sapelo Island Cultural and Revitalization Society.
We've also hosted community forums on environmental concerns and organized mini-garden projects for elderly residents who don't have yard space.

WOMEN’S HEALTH
Advocating for Women’s Issues
WVGC advocates for access to healthcare for all by supporting organizations that improve access to women, and the underserved community. As an ongoing sponsor of W.I.N. Ministry’s community events, we supply gift bags of free women’s hygiene products which we’ve distributed to hundreds. Our meetings have featured community health leaders from the Glynn County Health Department, Planned Parenthood, and Coastal Community Health Services.
